Teapot History
It is believed that teapots are a combination of two early drinking vessels. That of the Chinese wine vessel that had a spout from which one drank and the second being Turkish coffee pots. When loose tea leaves became available and required steeping before consumption, these clay vessels were then used for tea. The bulbous design was later perfected in Europe during the 1700's with the discovery of fine porcelain.
